Ice Therapy can help ease the pain and aches. So start cracking the ice cube tray in your freezer and get ready to feel a whole better by just putting ice on a specific point on your head. This will not treat the problem completely but it can help ease the pain in a short amount of time without the need to visit the doctor.

What’s the Point?

It is said that there are 400 acupuncture points in a human body. The one we need to focus on is called Feng Fu. It is one of the 400 acupuncture points and it is located on the skull just above the spine. This point area has the brain stem, spinal column, muscles, and tendons the support the human brain. Feng Fu is Wind Mansion in English. It is a crucial communication point between the mind and body.

Why Ice?

Applying ice on the area of inflammation can reduce the swelling and help alleviate the pressure on the surrounding tissue. Ice don’t have any bad side effect and a drug-free way of treating pain and swelling. When you place ice on this point of your head it does not treat the inflammation, it only helps in reducing pain and discomfort.

It is better to consult your doctor if the pain is severe and lasted more than 5 days already. Doctors can give you the proper diagnosis and treatment.

Brain Freeze

When you put ice on the base of your head it reduces the pain you are feeling. You can start by applying ice for 10 minutes and observe if the pain is decreasing. Change the timing from time to time. You can do 5, 10, 15  or up 20 minutes.

Don’t apply the ice directly to your skin because it can cause frostbite. Use a cloth to wrap the ice before applying it your skin.

And remember not to ice an injury more than 20 minutes at a time.
