The Healthy Hack

For most of us who find waxing too painful, the only choice left is shaving. But shaving too often can get pretty exhausting after a while. What we don’t know is that there are a few secrets to help amplify the results of your next shaving experience. Your skin will stay smoother like a baby and and you can use the time you saved on shaving for other things.

1. Soak razor in hot water before shaving

The razor blade will glide over your skin more easily when you heat it before using and that results in a more effective shave. This also drives the hairs to shrink when they are cut which will make them grow back more slowly.

2. Use shaving oil instead of shaving cream

Shaving cream is nice on your skin, but shaving oil has a more impressive effect. The razor glides directly over the skin when you use shaving oil which makes the hairs cut off at a deeper point. The convenience of this is that you don’t have to shave more often. While shaving cream actually creates a small “blockade” between the skin and the razor blade.

3. Shave in the opposite direction that the hair grows

This is the ultimate golden rule when we talk about shaving: always shave against the direction of hair growth! Aside from the fact that this cuts the hair much closer to the root, it also leaves the skin feeling smoother. The effects of your shave will also last sufficiently longer.

4. Regularly change razor blades

A very significant factor when shaving is of course the bite of the blade. Many people forget to replace the razor blade habitually and then doubt about the smoothness of their skin after shaving. Whenever you use a razor blade it gets a bit duller. The only best way to cut all the hair is to use a sharp blade.

5. Peel before shaving

One effective way to make you shave more adequately is to perform a skin peeling before shaving. This expels dry and dead skin that can prohibit your razor from gliding smoothly and targeting every hair as deeply as possible. Peeling can even make it achievable to get at any annoying ingrown hairs.

6. Take a hot shower before shaving

It sounds pretty clear but it’s actually really essential. You should take a hot shower before shaving or at least wipe the skin with a wet warm cloth. This opens the pores and softens the hair which can avert annoying razor burn. It also lets the razor get closer to the skin for a deeper and smoother shave.

You should treat your skin after shaving to some softening body lotion to cast some moisture and leave it feeling silky smooth. And if you do see yourself going through a bit of razor burn, the greatest treatment is to use some aloe vera gel.
